Modern and Contemporary History of Greece (chapter 4, unit 18) and application of the digital app WOW-HI (ID:153, Street name: Mitropetrova, City: Messini, Country: Greece).

The teaching of the course is foreseen both from the detailed program and from the teaching instructions of the Ministry of education and Culture for 2022-2023.

STUDENT KNOWLEDGE AND PERCEPTIONS

The students already Know from the previous unit: About the evolution of the Greek revolution (1820-1821), about the governor Kapodistrias and the completion of the Greek revolution, as well as about the election and arrival of Otto and the regency period.

CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION AND REQUIRED INFRASTRUCTURE

Students will work  in groups of four or five with one computer per group ·  Otherwise  a P/C and a video projector are needed.

SOFTWARE 

Internet, browser, word processor.

EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS 

After completing the activities proposed in this teaching scenario, students are expected to have achieved the following objectives: 

Get to know Mitropetrovas' actions during the Greek revolution

Understand the reasons why he was called "Nestor" of the revolution.

Learn his relationship with Kapodistrias and Othonas.

Understand the role of the Bavarian Empire through Mitropetrovas.

Develop a spirit of cooperation by working as a team.

Develop self-efficacy and learn to construct knowledge by themselves.

Develop software usage skills.

Know the possibilities that the Internet offers to pupils in the study of history.

Learn, in the context of the new digital literacy, to utilize various electronic tools in their studies.

DESCRIPTION 

The teaching method used is historical analysis, which, combined with the productive-inductive method, builds general knowledge through the teaching of details, and interprets the history as a whole, taking into account all the factors that shape historical reality. In addition, where deemed necessary, the indicative method based on projections will be used. Pedagogically, an attempt will be made to apply exploratory and collaborative learning. Students will work in groups, within which they can assume specific roles. The form of teaching will be dialectic with some use of narration to ensure the co-investigation of teacher - student. The teacher's role will generally be that of a facilitator. The printed worksheet and "Vima" newspaper's article will be distributed to the students. 

The worksheet consists of four short activities. The first three are short: 

Using the WOW-HI platform and their historical knowledge, the students are asked to answer the three questions about the life, personality and actions of Mitropetrovas.

With the last activity, they will understand the role of Mitropetrovas during the Bavarian period and the reasons that led to his imprisonment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

The duration of the implementation of this lesson depends on the level of the students and on their familiarity with the electronic tools they will use. One academic hour is enough in a class with a fairly good level and familiarity with electronic tools.

ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY 

Differentiated teaching that adapts to the special characteristics of each student will be preferred.
