DESCRIPTION

The lesson is designed for  a class with children with mild and moderate disabilities. It is a lesson of acquiring new knowledge where the students need to refresh some notions related to other personalities by capturing their attention with the help of their own photos and with the help of The WOW-HI Educational On-line Platform.  This platform will be used for: identifying King Ferdinand Street, reading and hearing information about it.Through the presentation of a Power Point material, several aspects and attributes of Avram Iancu are established.

The activity is carried out both face-to-face and individually.

After reading a text, students extract the main ideas from the text. The text is about the revolution of 1848 and its leader Avram Iancu.

Consolidation of knowledge is done through a worksheet. Students are rewarded with a wordwall game related to the topic of the lesson.

The worksheet will consist of four exercises:

Students are asked to connect everyday life with the historical event, locate the street and, after reading the text accompanying the street name, answer questions relating the street name to the historical event and the condition related to it.

After reading a text in physical and electronic format, students must respond by identifying the main features of Avram Iancu, his accomplishments, the causes and consequences of the 1848 revolution.

Withis this stage they will also fill the answers to the questions.

The content consolidation activity consists of completing a puzzle.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The duration of the implementation of this lesson depends on the level of the students and on their ICT abilities. One academic hour is enough in a class with a fairly good level and fair ICT abilities. Otherwise, a second teaching hour will probably be needed.

Because some of the texts are not written in clear language (obsolete words from the old Romanian language) a discussion and some extra explanations are needed.

Finally, some of the activities may represent their homework if the teacher thinks the students need so.

ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY

The activity is adapted to the characteristics of students with SEN.

Within this lesson, differentiated work will be done if the students do not have the same level related to the notions of history.

Help is also given through explanations for solving the workseet and especially for completing the puzzle.
